Jan 12, Sandra rated it liked it Shelves: I was really looking forward to this book, and I enjoyed the story as such - Cris, the Lionman, was a side character in the first book, and I was hoping he'd get his own story. Bennett, the other MC, is the brother of Mikey resident lush at Cowboys and Angels bar and so deep in the closet he's almost in Narnia. I won't rehash the blurb here, but suffice it to say that Mikey is confused as hell, and Bennett is tryi 3.

I won't rehash the blurb here, but suffice it to say that Mikey is confused as hell, and Bennett is trying to prevent his little brother from making a huge mistake - though what exactly that mistake is probably isn't clear to Bennett. Mikey laying a wet one on Cris at the bar while drunk as a skunk, and Cris taking him home to be a good Samaritan apparently doesn't endear Cris to Bennett, and I disliked Bennett intensely for that bullshit.

But of course the flames of lust burn brightly, and we are treated to a mutual handjob in which Cris' name is transposed with Bennett's in the middle of the climax, which ripped me right out of the story. Then a bit later one, again in the middle of a self-love scene, there's talk about a "pear-shaped slit". I'm sorry, what? I've seen a few slits in my life, and not a single one of them could be described as pear-shaped.

Is that a thing? And then the editor clearly took a vacation, because there's no other way that a one story house ended up having an upstairs. I can believe it having a basement, but a one story house has ONE floor. Not a downstairs and an upstairs. That's TWO floors. Two stories. Unless this is a British thing which is possible , but then this should be Americanized for a story set in the US. After that, I simply didn't care to continue highlighting the issues I found, just kept reading the story so I could finish.

The first meeting with Bennett's parents goes as expected, though this leads to Bennett taking a stand finally , and things start to get better for him and Cris. I liked seeing Dan and Gideon again - I like this couple - and I appreciated that Cris had a backbone, even if it cost him. There's a good chunk of easy camaraderie inside, with teasing and sarcastic comments, and I really enjoyed that. The story itself was good, and the book would have gotten 4 stars easily if there hadn't been so many errors that pulled me right out of the reading flow.

I am looking forward to the next book in this series which will hopefully be about Mikey and Ramon. Hopefully, the editor won't be asleep for that one. A positive review was not promised in return. View all 7 comments. It's not like life or death if you don't turn up for work! Then meeting Cris, the Lionman, I knew he had a story to tell. He was just so effervescent and sexy; the hottest and most requested dancer at his work site that all the women wanted him even though he played for the other team.

The speed dating session from book one did not render him a date, but it did bring Mikey Petrovski into his life, and in turn the man's very serious, very angry, older brother, Bennett. Who was Bennett Petrovski? According to Cris, the guy was everything Mikey wasn't -- mature and sexy. However, Benny was also a man who placed a lot on family values and keeping the peace. With all the secrecy surrounding himself, there was no way he was letting ANY man sway his brother from the woman he was destined to marry.

But no matter how much he protested, Benny was drawn to Cris as he had never been to another man. What started out as a warning turned out to be the awakening of a lifetime. This story was more than exploration. It was Benny's coming out story. The list of secondary characters held the story together and added something that was needed. Join Cris and Benny and the cast of Angels and Cowboys characters as they discover the true meaning of love and friendship.

May 14, George Loveland rated it it was amazing. This was such a great read. I had read the first book in the Cowboys and Angels series, so I knew of the Lionman aka Cris, as well as the bar that the series is set around. Do you need to have read the first one before the second, I'd say not as the story focuses on Cris, a stripper at the Forbidden Nightz club. The story doesn't centre around the strip club tho This was such a great read.

The story doesn't centre around the strip club though, but what I liked about that part of it was that it was not treated in a derogatory way, it was part of his life and what he did to pay the bills - and by all accounts, was good at it. The love interest, Bennett, wasn't what I expected and it was such a refreshing change. They didn't fall for each other straight away, and yet the build up to the relationship was there and it felt right.

Bennett, firmly in the closet as far as his family was concerned, was an interesting character as he followed the family line or finding the right girl. His brother Mikey was always on hand to interject even more chaos into the story, and while I was getting fed up of him, he added to the story every time he showed up. The end of the book came at the right time, although I would have liked a little more about how the relationship between Cris and Bennett, but I'm not disappointed by what happened and loved how they slotted in together.

A thoroughly great read. Nov 27, Kristin rated it really liked it Shelves: It does help to have read Speed Dating the Boss Cowboys and Angels 1 to establish the setting and background. I enjoyed this just as much as the first book, maybe even moreso. I thought the characters were engaging, realistic, and varied. Several favorite characters from book one make an appearance, as we are introduced to some new faces. And the characters that annoyed me in book 1 Ariel are relegated to background support in book two, which was a great relief.

One paragraph they are growling at each other, the next they are playing tonsil hockey. It was a bit disconcerting, in my humble opinion. When an author can push my emotional buttons like that, it is to be applauded. Oh my gosh, just…oh my gosh. More emotions! Basically, I felt engaged in the outcome of the story between Cris and Bennett and that kept the pages turning. Mikey straddled the line between being the next Arial first book reference and adding just enough antagonism to keep the plot from becoming too sweet.

Overall, there was no big misunderstanding, there was no running to the tell-all bestie, it was, for me, my kind of romantic read. Okay, enough reading my review. Go read the book.
