I was hired into paid, full-time youth ministry at the age of I was single, young, male, not dating anyone, and found myself suddenly surrounded by people that dominated my social schedule…romantic dating just got a lot more complicated. That was back in , and I am now married with two kids. So why am writing this particular blog entry? I know many youth ministers who are young and single I know many youth ministers of various ages and stages of committed relationships too, of course!

My local church is in search of a worship leader. Despite my musical ineptitude, I was among those asked to serve. Far from exhaustive, they are a set of traits, postures, and characteristics I believe are informed by Scripture and ought to transcend culture and denomination. Your worship leader should meet the biblical qualifications of an elder. This is important. I need to add a caveat here. Depending on what song-leading looks like in your particular congregation, meeting the qualifications of an elder may be unnecessary.

What Youth Ministers Need to Know Before Dating

Lets face it, youth ministries typically attract the most fun, most talented, best volunteers in the Church sorry Kids Min mostly kidding So when you have all these young, talented, energetic type people they are bound to find someone in that group that they find attractive and perhaps pursue a dating relationship. From boundaries, to communication to conflict, we ask that our leaders live out a healthy relationship for students to see. Just because you and Bae unwritten rule: Youth night, is focused on youth, you can chat, connect, but your students should not get short changed because of your relationship. Make sure that on youth night, you are in leader mode.
